I need to fix a noise coming from inside my boat while in gear at a specific rpm (under 2,000). I thought about removing the prop and backing the boat and trailer into the water and then starting it. Does anyone know if you could damage anything by doing this? By leaving it on the trailer i can spend more time finding the noise.

Re: without a prop
Originally posted by jjgag60Thank you for the suggestions. I think Daniel is right, my noise is only in "gear" so without the prop the noise may go away. I will try the RPM cruise and then have someone drive, while I look and listen. Thanks everyone.
