warning light and temp gauge issues

I have a 93 SN. and I have 3 problems that I could not find sepecifically in the forum.

1. My red warning light on the dash - I followed the wire to my engine and the red wire that makes it to my engine compartment is not connected to anything. When it bumps against my engine(i.e. gets grounded) it lights my warning light. The question I have is where or what is this wire supposed to be connect to? I cannot find or see where it was originally. My manual is worthless for this!

2. My temperature gauge likes to peg out and then if I thump the dash it will come back to "normal" only to ocassionally jump and come back again. According to other posts this would be a temp sender problem - so why would thumping on the gauge do anything? Anyone else have this problem? Is my thumping timing just right and not really doing anything?

3. My trailer brakes suck. They are completely gone. Is it a big deal to rebuild? It doesn't look too bad but I don't want to get half way into it just to get stuck.

The only two things that should set that light off are oil pressure and engine temperature. I am not sure where that wire is supposed to go, but I would guess it should go into the computer or the Pro-Tec system.

The temp gauge issue might be related to that wire being unhooked. If not, pull the dash (four thumbscrews) and check to see if another wire is grounding out on the wire posts on the temp gauge. Is the red light coming on when the temp gauge pegs?

I had to replace the entire brake system on my '94 Ram-Lin trailer. I replaced the drums, backing plates, lines, master cylinder, and reservoir. he total cost was close to $800 (parts and labor) if I remember correctly. If this happened to me now, I would replace the parts myself and save a substantial amount of money. Below is all that was left of the brake line coming out of the reservoir on my trailer.

Target54 on your check engine light the wire should be hooked to the light green wire that hooks to the overheat switch and low oil switch on the motor. On the gauge problem check your connections especially the positive side, if alls good then your gauge is going bad. On the brakes its best to replace the backing plates completly and to replace the accuator also flush te lines and use silicone fluid instead of normal fluid. Try Northern Hydraulics for prices and try a local trailer place for parts.
