    Upholstry Vinyl skins

Does anyone know if you can buy the skins for Nautiques somewhere? I have a '92 Sport Nautique and I need to reupholster it. I would like to do it myself and have heard that manufacturers sometimes have the pre-cut skins for boats. Has anyone heard of this or know where I could get some?

    Thanks.

I've heard of people getting them from their dealer. From what I understand, the dealer gets them from Correct Craft. So, if you can get them, they should be a perfect fit!

Is there anyone here who's bought & installed them?
Are they available for older Nauti's? Ballpark costs? How did the install go?

I just called the dealer and he said they have to make them and it would probably cost more than having the boat reupholstered by someone else. I guess they just don't have extras sitting around

Someone on correctcraft.com just told me that midwest cc has patterns that they cut skins to and will ups them to you?

that's interesting. Did they have an idea of how much it would cost? If it were less than $500 I'd do it. I wonder if they have the pre-cut padding too.

The skins for the back seat of my 90 SN were over six hundred dollars- I think the whole set is well over a grand. The PO had inquired with his dealer for my boat before I bought it and he is a really honest guy. He was going to buy the skins and include them for the seat but after hearing how much it was he couldn't do it.

From the replies I got on CorrectCraft.com, it seems like the ballpark is +/-$1000. Not sure what that includes (My entire interior has the seats motor box, & comming pads along the sides). It's something I may look into over the winter.
From what I've been told: It's Midwest CC in Indiana & they have precut patterns and beveled foam pads made by a shop next door. (Not exact replacement material).

Hmm, I might try to sew my own if it's going to cost that much. I know a guy who reupholstered his entire boat for $300. Took him a lot of time though.

$1000 isn't bad but if the back seat is over 600, I doubt all of them are going for $1000 for an open bow.

Do the skins from Midwest CC come sewn to shape so that all you have to do is stuff in the foam and staple to the frame?

Find a local upholstery person. Some will find one, pull the skins themselves & they cut new for me. Mucho cheaper. Skins may not fit perfect due to slight changes to foam shape. But u can heat up the vinyl to remove wrinkles or stretch it if needed. OF

I just talked to Midwest Correct Craft. He quoted me $3000 for the complete skins on my 1996 SN. Luckily i know a guy in town that will do it for around $1000.

OOPS! Did not mean "me" personally; but generic owner sense. aka "you". If there are more than 2 or 3 dealers around, u should be able to find their source. buy skins direct, pull them yourself w/ a screwdriver, pay them to install the more difficult ones. OR price shop w/ West Coast CC or Southeast Cc. Heard they should all have patterns. CC is not in the older boat skin business; maybe just the last 6 yrs or so. Sorry 4 the confusion mgswed. OF
