Oil and oil filter recommended for Vortec 330 engine?
RE: Oil and oil filter recommended for Vortec 330 engine?
For an Excalibur use 15w40, I use the Shell Rotella, others are available. Most likely you have the remote oil filter which actually uses a standard Ford filter, FL1a or equivalent, I use the Motorcraft brand, you want to avoid the Fram from what I have read.

Me too and it is all readily available at your local Wal Mart.

I've been buying the wix because they are good filters and also painted glossy BLACK. I take the label off with some goo gone....looks sick when you open the clamshell and notice the discrete black filter.

That's a wix 51515, available by the case on e-bay. Buy a case keep enough for a couple years and share the rest with your friends.
Note the remote filter mount uses a Ford specific filter. Kind of wierd using a Ford filter on a Chevy motor but PCM stuck with the same remote filter plate when they switched from Ford to Chevy.
