    Thru Hull Size

Can someone with a SAN with these thru hulls tell me what the outside diameter size (flange) is of these thru hulls? I ordered the smaller ones, but not sure they are right.

Attached is a picture of the thru hulls I am talking about. Looks like two are the same size most likely for bilge and one is larger probably for ballast.

    Thanks.

    RE: Thru Hull Size

I have a '01 SAN that I upgraded to the new chrome thru-hulls. The large ones are 2" and the small ones are 1.5". For the newer boats (07-09) they are all 2" but have different hose barbs to match the different sizes of hose from the bilge and ballast. Correct the smaller dia is from the bilge in your picture.

Thanks MNSuperAir. They must have sent me the new 2" versions. Were you able to get the 1.5" versions?

I didn't try to get the 1.5" version. I just drilled the hole out for the 2". Do you have thru-hulls now? Opening up the holes was quite easy after a few tries. I took one socket that had the same OD as the original hole in the boat. I wrapped a little duct tape on it to make a tight fit. I then took a 1/4" drive socket that had the same OD as the ID of the previous socket. The 1/4" socket then worked as a guide for the hole saw since the drill bit was close to 1/4". Hope this helps.

Yes. I have all the 2" versions for my replacements. They just seemed huge to me. Do you have any pics of yours installed?

What are you trying to do? Just replace the current ones with Chrome ones? What year is your boat? What seems huge, the chrome flange or the hose barb? They have different sized hose barbs depending on the application. I should have a pic soon.

              RE: Thru Hull Size

I have a '99 Super Sport that I am doing a bunch of upgrades too. While doing the ballast upgrade I am replacing all the thru hulls with SS versions. I know there are a lot of aftermarket types, but I wanted to stay with factory CC stuff. My local CC store sent me the 2" versions with 3/4 hose barbs. But, if there were smaller versions, I was kinda leaning that way since the 2" models just looked big to me. When I say big, I mean the exterior flange portion. But, would love to see some pics of yours.

Very nice of your wife to help out!! You will have to thank her for me.

Thanks for the pics. Definitely helps to see. Looks good. Smart of you to use the existing ski pylon for your pump mounts.

Can anyone that has the a year model SAN that has the configuration of thru hulls from the picture (IMG00344) tell me if the smaller thru hulls are 90 degree or straight?

                      Thanks.
