    HELP 5.7 330hp 2004 anyone else?

My 216 SE new in 2006 and has ran PERFECT for the last 3 seasons and the first 3 outing of this year. This weekend it all changed, had to be towed in. Put fresh gas in and the boat restarted and ran great until time to laod on trailer.
I've drained the water/fuel filter, NO water, checked deadman switch it appears ok.
Fuel pump is working, not sure of pressure. After the restart the boat would run 4700rpms at WOT. ANY Ideals???

    RE: HELP 5.7 330hp 2004 anyone else?

I had some like issues and it was the plug on the fuel pump relay. With the power off, pull out your relays and use a pick to pry the plug for better contact. It fixed my problems. I know you have a 2006 and the service bulliten is for the 2003 but it may be worth a look.

Yes it is a 04 that was in a show room for 2 yrs put into service in April of 06.
I have spoken with the folks at Correct Craft and at PCM and I will just tell you they have been GREAT. They are somewhat stumped as well. The folks at CC sent me a electric diagram they send to dealers for trouble shooting will all the relays and such with suggestions. The folks at PCM offered for me to call them back when I am trouble shooting the problem to give help. ( during business hours) The problem I have is the boat is 4 hours from home and the closest dealer is a couple hours away hence the reason I trying to find a solution on my own.
I did read the service report on the fuel relay and since someone on this board has had a like problem I will be sure to check that.
Thanks for the help and any other suggestions would be a welcomed.

PS I told the wife if I don't get fixed soon I will be getting out of storage 1986 2001 my first LOVE. She found no humor in me calling it my first LOVE! With 1350 hours on it runs like new.

A bad relay connection would not keep the engine from running above 4700 rpm. Does it sound like it is running on all eight cylinders? It almost sounds like a mb that I fixed several years ago it turned out to be a bad plug wire but it ruined the cap as the spark found a better route to go.

4700 RPM WOT is about what it should run, I think he means it was running good at that point, and later would not run. A bad relay connection on the fuel pump relay will cause the engine to stumble or stall and makes for hard restarts or if the connection is totally lost the engine will not start at all.

Printed out the PCM service report for the MEFI relay electrical connection, pictures and text. Made special trip to the lake in hopes of a found solution. I took apart the relay I was excited to see the relay could have been the post child for the service bulletin. The picture was exactly like the connection on mine. I repaired following the outlined procedure. Ran the boat on Saturday and Sunday ski both days and took a boat ride, happy days are here again!
Until I went to load the boat on the trailer at the end of day while I was getting the trailer the boat died and would not start again. So the next two hours were spent getting the boat/trailer ready for the 3 hour tow to the dealer.
I'll post what they find. I hope that maybe either PCM or CC might stand behind there product has the boat has on 175 hrs and has only been in service for 3 seasons for 4 months each yr. That translates to 12 months of use. I'm sure that is wishful thinking on my part.

Sounds just like what mine did. Just to be sure I used a steel pick to pry all the relay socket connections (12), four on each of three relays, that was 30 hours back and no more issues. Sorry the fix did not help you. How many of the relays did you look at, I pretty sure you have three, starter, fule pump and ignition. They will all be side by side.

                      Good Luck.

Thanks for the help. I did check them all hopefully the dealership will find the problem. With the boat so far away it makes it hard to troubleshoot and with the limited number of weekends up north (kinda boat is in KY) I need resolution.
                        Thanks again for the suggestions.
