    Standing water in ski locker

I have what seems to be at least a gallon of standing water in my 93 Sport ski locker left over from a long active day on the lake... a week ago. That water is starting to get a little nasty and I'd like it gone before it stinks up our ski bindings. The drain hole for the locker seems to be about an inch up from the bottom, which doesn't allow every bit to drain into the bilge. I've maxed out the height of the tongue jack, and it still doesn't completely drain out.

I'm considering drilling another smaller hole (maybe 3/8"?) just below the drain hole to allow all the remaining water to completely drain out- is there anything wrong with doing this? Did the slightly elevated drain hole serve a higher purpose?

On other trips the locker didn't hardly retain any water, so I don't suspect it is taking on more water than normal. Our last trip was just particularly long and soggy (ended with a hard rain shower on the way home).

    Thanks,
    Tim

Before you drill another hole, do you have a shopvac? That would help clean it out, since it seems to be a problem that you don't deal with frequently. I'm never a fan of adding holes to my boat, but that's just me.

Seems to me if you add a hole to let the water out, you will also let bilge water in. My ski locker has a plug that keeps bilge water out and yes the plug is a bit above the bottom of the locker for obvious reasons (constructability). Just vacuum, bail, sponge, whatever the water out and make sure you plug is installed.

        Good point David,

I wasn't thinking of the opposite- bilge water entering the locker! I'll just shop vac it out like mndanielsncsu suggested, as its not a regular problem at all.

        Thanks guys
