    Extra battery and model question

I have owned my Nautique for a year now, was very afriad to touch anything until this year. I have already changed an impeller, fixed the leak in my cold water shower connection, and found that my raw ater strainer had no gasket( thanks for the heads up PO). My first question is what model do I have? It is an 01 open bow DD with 2 rear ballast tanks, I have been reading a million posts and cant figure out if I have an "air" or a "pro air" I know its not a "super air" because of the DD? Second question, I would like to add a second battery, how difficult is it, are any special tools required. My current battery is directly under the front bow cushion.
I will try to attach a pic

    Thanks

RE: Extra battery and model question

If it's an Air, it's not a Pro-Air. A Pro-Air will have strakes in the Hull. Possible it is a modified Sport, which for all intents and purposes is an Air..

RE: Extra battery and model question

Adding a battery can be very easy and inexpensive to moderately difficult and pricey. It really depends on how 'smart' you want your system to be. If you just want to add a manual PERKO switch which will allow for isolation and combination manually, then it is cheap and easy. All you need is a battery, battery switch, terminal rings, and proper gauge cables (I would use 0/1 AWG or bigger)... you will need more runs than you might think due to the switch. If you want an intelligent system that has a relay in it, you have to factor that in as well. I went with 2 Optima Dual blue-tops and the Blue Seas combiner / isolator system that has a smart relay. I put both my batteries under the obsever's seat pushed as far forward as they can go. I also hooked up some Comfort Connectors from CTEK that can quick connect to my CTEK charger and also have LED's that tell me whether or not the batteries need to be charged. It's very slick.

Note, you do not want to add a new battery to a used battery. You will want 2 new batteries.

Others might know better, but I don't think you will need an upgraded alternator with only 2 batteries.

checkout Genuinedealz.com for your cable and terminal needs. They do great marine (tinned) custom cables at good prices.

What is a Strake? Also the graphics on the side say "BIG AIR NAUTIQUE", the orig owner didnt like the factory graphics and had that put on, you cant see the BIG in the pic cause my fat ars is blocking it. Now I do have a notch in the back bottom of the hull, is this a strake?

          Thanks

A strake is a design in the hull to lift at a certain speed and it would be toward the middle and it would also have a cutout in the hull bottom below the big N in the side of the boat and it would look triangular in shape and cut towards the center of the bottom of the hull.
