I stopped for gas yesterday afternoon after a pretty good day on the water. I pulled out of the gas station to fill the ballast tanks in my 2001 super air with the gt-40. I got my buddy up to wake surf and immediately the check engine light came on and the engine started acting as though it was hitting a rev-limiter. I turned her off for a couple of minutes then back on. No check engine light came on until I got home. Turned her back off when I pulled into my dock. Came back 2 hrs. later, fired her up again, no check engine light initially, but it came on about 5 mins. later. Gauges reading normal (temp, oil pressure). I checked my v-drive fluids and they were low so I added some Dex (hoping that might be the problem, but it wsan't). Now I'm concerned.
2 questions:
1- When the boat would "hit the rev limiter" is that the boat going into a "limp home mode?" Would that help diagnose anything?
2- Any one have any ideas on where to start with this? Should I take a trip to the dealer and sacrificing the beginning of summer?
