Oil Change on 5.7 Liter in 04 SAN 210

We decided to change the oil the other day and tried to do it the way we used to on our old 92 Nautique Excel. After a run pull it up on the trailer, feed the oil drain hose through the drain plug hole, open the brass fitting on the oil drail hose and let it run into a container. First issue was the hose fitting is too large to fit through the drain plug hole. So we tried it in the bilge area, and when we removed the brass cap, nothing flowed out (even when we removed the oil fill cap).

Is there an isolation valve upstream on the hose? All of the dealers I have asked say they use vacuum pumps and it is not a problem. Is the drain hose not supposed to allow free flow of oil? Anyone out there know a way to make it work or should I buy a pump?

Mine took a few minutes to start coming out of the hose the first time I changed it. It obviously hadn't been changed through the hose before. I'm sure my dealer was using a pump too. I just let it sit for a few minutes and made sure there weren't any kinks in the hose.

Mine almost wouldn't fit through the drain hole, but I was able to get it through. I would think that could be a real problem if you can't get yours through. I wouldn't want to try to drain it into a container in the bilge.

Don't try to drain the oil into the bilge. You will have a huge mess. Work the hose through the drain hole somehow and then find the hose that comes off the top of the valve cover and pull it out. I can't remember for sure but I think it is on the opposite side of the oil fill cap. This will allow more oil to flow through the drain hose.

I watched my dealer give my SV-211 a complimentary 1st oil change and found out that I will most likely give him the pleasure of changing it from now on. Not nearly as simple as a mid engine boat.

I did the same on my last oil change, and it took at least two hours for the oil to drain. if I do it again, i will be using a vacume pump.

better yet, the dealer will be doing it.
