Bad morning

First off i bought a new mirror mount for my tower and the hole size is to big. i was thinking of making some sort of rubber insert to take up the space. Any suggestions? I was thinking along the lines of a tube for a bike tire.



Then i get the boat off the trailer and everything was running well then we go to leave the no wake zone gave the boat some throttle and the motor killed and couldn't get it started back up. i cracked the fuel line at the injector rail and turned the motor over and no fuel. I then cracked the line going from the fuel pump to the fuel/water separator, cranked the motor and got the same result (no fuel). So with that being said i believe it's clear that my fuel pump is bad. Is there anything else it could possibly be other than a bad fuel pump? i think if the fuel filter was plugged I'd still get some fuel going through the system?.?. I'm just wondering if there is something else i should look into before buying the $120 fuel pump?

Earlier this week, my house was hit by lightning, my built-in refrigerator was fried, my satellite receivers no worky, and then later in the same storm my block lost all power (still out btw), my work hard drive failed and I lost a lot of work (which is why I am at work now taking a break checking PN)... and all I keep telling myself is I could have been the guy down the street whose Porsche was flooded in the storm and totalled. Solidarity brother.

Your symptoms sound like a bad fuel pump to me (although I am no mechanic). I had the same thing happen on my carbed 350 Mercruiser on my Tige last summer. Worked fine on the first outing of the year for about 10 minutes... then nothing. Unfortunately for me, it took 3 days and many non-faulty parts being replaced to figure out that it was a bad fuel pump.

Hang in there Chexi! My day doesn't sound so bad anymore after hearing about your week. Thanks for the input guys. one last question, where would i find the fuel pump relay at? I'm assuming its one of the relays next to the computer on the back of the engine.?.?

The relays are mounted on the rear of the engine near the ECM. The say Hella on top, and there are two side by side. You can interchange them to see if you get the pump to come on. They are pretty cheap and something I take with me on a long trip with the boat. They are prone to failure.

Ugh! My string of bad luck just keeps going. Got to my vacation house in Iowa early Monday morning (like 3 am) and found 2 busted water pipes. Part of my patio that I built last year was also undercut by flooding and current and shifted. And critters or wind ripped off part of my facia board. If bad things happen in threes, I've had more than double my share lately.

Well i tried the new relay and it didn't work at first so i stopped cranking. The very next time i tried it it fired right up. So i let it run for awhile and turned it off, tried to start it again and nothing. I swapped the new relay with the one beside it and still nothing. I'm thinking i have to bite the bullet and go for the fuel pump. Is there anything else i should try before spending the $120?

Break out the volt meter/test light and ensure that the relay is receiving power when appropriate. I'd hate for you to install a new pump only to find out that a bad connection in the circuit was the problem....

I had the same problem with my '05 SANTE. It was very frustrating. It turned out to be a bad anti-siphon valve. It is a known CC problem, but a simple fix. You just need a new valve...if that is in fact what the problem is.

Once I got the new valve, no more issues with it.
