    birds!

Don't know what the heck the birds around here are eating, but one bombed my boat yesterday and I now have a purple stain on the vinyl. Any suggestions for removal?

        Stain and Birds

I'll have to check the care guide that came with the factory information but I believe a tablespoon of amonia mixed with a quarter cup of water
is recommended for a number of stains on vinyl.

As for the birds you could try one of these:

A bit unrelated, but a funny story regarding bird poop. We have a weekend house at a nearby lake where boats are kept at private boat houses. A friend of mine came over to our cove for a visit and brought his pontoon boat that has an aluminum hardtop on it. As he was pulling up I noticed a bunch of stuff on his hardtop. Once we got up on a stepladder we saw there were probably 15-20 large piles of bird poo. And when I say piles, I mean very LARGE piles. It looked like a pack of Rottweilers had a party up there. I'm surprised the boat didn't roll over because of it being top heavy.

One remedy that some of my neighbors have done is hang old CDs and/or DVD disks on fishing line in the rafters of their boat houses and that seems to keep the birds away. Not sure if there is a way for you to use something like that. Otherwise, the shotgun idea may be your best bet. Being a SxS guy, I'm a bit partial to my 1906 Lefever or the 1924 Husqvarna hammer gun. Very effective implements.

Correction - One tablespoon ammonia - one quarter cup hydrogen peroxide - three quarter cup water

This mixture is listed for permanent marker and yellow mustard on the marine specialties group care insert
that came with my 06 SANTE. As always it recommends rinse with clean warm water and the use of
vinyl finish vinyl cleaner and 303.

A restaurant with a vinyl roof over the deck in Boyton Beach Fl had a rubber snake ont the roof said to scare birds away. I have also heard of mounting a fake Owl.

They put a plastic coyote on our POA beach that seems to keep the geese away. They crap all over the place on our shoreline.

We have nuisance geese and have tried just about everything.
Coyote cutouts. Work for 2 weeks.
Reflective ribbon tape. Maybe 2 weeks.
Spraying the grass with a grape extract made specifically to discourage geese feeding. 1 day. It looked like they were more selective in feeding but it didn't slow them at all.

Today we tried something new. A product you spray on the grass and lasts for 2 or 3 weeks before requiring reapplication. What is does is give them an upset stomach. The company claims that after 2 days they will seek food elsewhere. The product is harmless and fairly odorless. It also has crystals in it that makes the entire lawn sparkle which geese do not like.

We will see if it works or not. Geese are the worst, they can destroy a lawn in about 1/2 a day.

As far as geese are concerned, the one thing they hate is long grass. Our neighborhood had a problem with geese by a pond and they just let the grass around the pond and along the dam grow long and kept it cut high. Geese are gone.

I second the Benelli! I've heard of the Owl, CD's and ribbon's. The geese are protected at our lake, but boy do they take big poops. Man turds, I tell ya. Best thing for Geese is an American Bulldog and an invisible fence. Hard tossup on who makes the bigger pooh, though.

I was actually talking about the stain, but now that you mention it, it would be nice to remove (or at least reduce) the birds also! I'll have to dig out my air rifle and go hunting...

Same bird did that to my boat today... I can show you pic - no joke - I removed it with a super bio cleaner I purchased from a boat show.

                            I have bought 10 bottles - if interested I can sell 1.

I am very excited with this cleaner. It cleans everything and it is not made with crazy chemicals to destroy your nice boat materials.

At the boat show - the guy who was selling them start spraying his tongue to show me that is 100% natural.

Anyway - if interested I can send 1 bottle to try it.

                            Thank you,
                            Andron

                            P.S.
Just do not use it for carpaint and windows.
