    fuel pump breaker pops

Does anybody out there know why my fuel pump circuit breaker started to pop when my 2000 216 runs for a short time. It doesnt happen until i run it for a short time and it is sporadic

    Thanks, Earl

Maybe the fuel pump is on its way out, or the breaker is weak. Either way, you better either fix it immediately, or carry spare parts and the necessary tools to replace either while on the water.

The 216 model was not made until 2003. I am guessing you have a Sport Nautique.
DavidF spelled it out. You probably got a GT-40 Ford motor. It has two fuel pumps. Check the amp draw on each. The total amp draw should not be higher than the circuit breaker rating. The second fuel pump is inside the FCC.
If you have the GT-40, here is how to test the fuel pressure without having to run the engine:

Same symptoms. I replaced my low pressure fuel pump last spring because a 15A circuit breaker kept tripping. 99 Air, PCM GT-40 with 500 hrs. I took me longer to find the wiring diagram to figure out which circuit breaker was tripping, than it did to replace the $120 pump. Quick fix.
