    Perfect Pass unwinding

Has anyone had the problem where your perfect pass either unwinds or does not wind back quite enough. The result is that you need to push the throttle further and further to get any power. I have started running into this problem. When I lift the motorbox hatch, I can see that ther is slack in the winding cord. Anyone know of a fix? Is this just a lubrication issue?

    RE: Perfect Pass unwinding

My 99' did that quite a bit and it drove me crazy, my 05' almost never. You should just be able to turn the knob to tighten it back up, or powering ignition on/off usually corrects it as well.

I have an old version of PP, and it seems to have an issue where if you press the "off" button while under power, the servo won't rewind. I have to turn it off and rewind it manually.
I only turn if off in neutral, and it always works great.
Perhaps it is a related issue?

just had this issue in my buddies 05 ex330. there is a little 1/16" allen screw inside the black knob that you can tighten to keep it from spinning and getting loose.

          RE: Perfect Pass unwinding

Thanks guys. I do think it is related to turning it off when not in neutral. I will also bring my allen set with me next time I am out just in case.

It would not be that big of a deal except that this PP is on my old Tige direct drive. On that boat, we always flip the rear seat around, which then sits against the motor box, preventing me from easily opening the motor box and manually winding it!

            Servo Phase Test

Ours is doing that now, perviously our servo was seized, but then it started having this throttle lag - PP guys told us to do a Servo Phase Test to makes sure we're getting power everywhere: Here's how to do the test (FYI we have Stargazer, Pro Series PP)

Servo Phase Test 6.5NG/7.0 Software (2005-2009)

            1. Press Menu & Up Keys at same time. This will bring you to background Menu starting with CONTRAST. Press Menu key until you get to “DEVICE TEST”

            2. Press Up Key to enter Device Test and you will see:

            SERVO ON
            SERVO OFF

            3. Press Menu Key and PHASE TEST will appear. Press Up Key to enter Phase Test. The screen will now identify each color wire in the cabling from Master Module to servo motor:

            GREEN .7
            BLACK .7
            BROWN .7
            WHITE .7

Each of these wire colors should show a voltage level of about .7. If a wire shows 0, then that color wire does not have continuity and should be checked where it exits the Master Module and at the servo motor.

            4. Press the Menu Key to exit the phase test and ROTATE SERVO will be highlighted. Advance the throttle to 3/4 open. Press the Up Key to start Rotate Servo Test. The servo motor should now rotate back and forth and the throttle arm on the engine should smoothly open and close as the black knob rotates. You should never see loose nylon cord under the shaft of the black knob. Gently hold the knob during this rotation test to add a little resistance. If the motor does not turn or if it just vibrates, then an electrical connection or crimp is bad. Unplug the two white connectors at servomotor and inspect the wires going into the connectors. Gently pull on each wire to see if one is loose or not securely in crimp. Also, check the wires at plug in the gray servo power cable where it exits the Master Module.

            5. Press the Menu Key to exit the Rotate Servo Test. Press the Menu Key two more times to exit the Servo Test Mode.

*With key OFF, you should be able to easily turn the black knob on servomotor shaft. (If you cannot turn the knob then the servomotor is seized)

*New Installation: If the system was just installed and the servo will not perform the “auto tighten”, check to make sure the gray servo cable is not plugged into Master Module upside down. Tips on connector should be facing up towards label on module.

I have the same issue. PP told me to give it less power out of the hole or install a "throttle stop". I'm not sure where a throttle stop would mount or how it would even work. Quinner is right, turn the ignition off and on a few times. The PP should give a 3/4 turn when booted. A few 3/4 turns should make it tight without turning the knob manually.

On the older perfect pass you are suposed to turn it off in neutral. My old boat did that if you turned it off while in gear.
