    Appropriate Voltage for Batteries

I have a 95 SS. What should the voltage be for the deep cycle battery as well as the stereo battery? Right now with a voltage tester I am getting readings of 12.5v.

My dealer said anything below 13v is not good.

Also, is it correct to have the pelco switch on 1 and 2 or should it just be on the deep cycle?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    RE: Appropriate Voltage for Batteries

Are you talking about engine running or not?

Without the engine running...I've not seen a lead acid 12V battery at 13 volts or higher.

    A chemist will tell you fully charged is 2.13 V/cell x 6 cells = 12.8 V

Turns out that wires were cut and never replaced/reconnected. Being a novice here when it comes to self repairs i thought it would be best if i just made a short video to show the problem.

If anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it.

No electrical load, engine running above 2000 RPM, 13.5 to 14.5 volts, at the battery.

If the engine off / no load voltage is less than 12.0, thae battery is fully discharged or bad.

To properly check for a bad battery, it needs to be fully charged then load tested.
