07 210 water under bow cushions

    Hey all,
Been noticing at the end of the day when I remove my 3 bow cushions to clean, that the carpet area right underneath is always wet.

I dont take in any water over the bow, so not sure how water is getting in there? I noticed that under the front most cushion there is a drain - could water be seeping up and in from that drain??? What does that drain connect too?

The drain in the bow connects to the bilge area and unfortunately there is no sort of check valve there. So if you have any water in the bilge and you stop, turn, etc., that water will go up the pipe and into your bow area. Our 2001 Air does the same thing.

that makes sense... thought my front ballast may have been leaking &/or overflowing through there for some reason..

          thanks fellas.

You're always going to have some water in the bilge, it's just part of the design. Unfortunately, the design of the draining system in the bow was not well thought out. It's irritating, but it is what it is.

thanks MHayes. you must be right - cause i barely ever have any water in my bilge area and my bilge pumps rarely spit any water out. But that carpet seems to always be a bit wet under the 3 cushions.
              thanks again fellas.

There is the eye at the front of the bow that you connect your trailer winch to. It is possible that water is leaking through that seal slightly. The cause is most likely water in your bilge, but if none and it is still wet, check the eye.

Put someone in the bow to watch and get someone outside to spray it with a water hose. I highly doubt that the eye is your issue though, but worth a look.

And just when I thought I was alone I read this. I have the same prblem, and just ran a tube down thr front water drain under the three cushions. I hooked it up to a shop vac, and sucked about 4 gallan of water from the chasm of no idea where the water is coming from.

I called Nautique and they could not explain where the front drain goes into the engine area, so no value there.

Still not sure, why this is happening, however I did get a ton of water out.

Okay so after further discovery, the drain area in the bow come out right in front of the ski pylon in the engine bay. It travels past the battery, which should have a drain tube that goes into the hull and then on the sides ofthe foot locker.

If you are getting water in the carpet then run a tube the width of say a batter cable from the frint drain down inthe the boat. You may have debris such as leaves or something blocking the passage. IF hte cable that you run down the drain tube is wet, then odds are you have blockage.

Then take a garden hose and put it down in there a ways. You will see water start to rise in the engine bay. This indicates your blocage is past. I had a chunk of carpet in mine. ( I had redone my carpet this past winter)

I then sucked all the water out with the bilge and used the the shop vac. to get the rest out.

I ran the tube down again the next day, all dry.

I have the same problem in my 2000 Air, it drives me nuts! Except in my boat the drain is under the nose bow seat where my battery is located and the wet carpet/ pooling water is located under the side seats in front of the windshield and behind the nose cushion (the triangular shaped bow cushion at the very front of the boat) I had thought that this area drains to the ski locker--> bilge and that water was sloshing out of the locker and back into this area?

I've noticed the same problem on my 2010 210. The carpet directly under the bow is soggy even with little water in the bilge area and without using the belly or bow sac ballast. Is this just a design issue or have people been able to find a solution.

I am a little surprised by how much water I have to bilge out during an average day of wakboarding and surfing. How would I know if this is a normal amount or if I've got a leak somewhere?

Was it soft drink that spilled on the cushion ?

Soft Drink Stain Removal from Carpet

Anyone who has ever hosted a party has had to contend with careless guests. They don't spill because they're inconsiderate of course, they 're just having such a good time, they're not paying attention. That can mean only one thing. Spills on the carpet. If you're finding yourself having to remove carpet stains caused by soft drinks, you might be happy to find out this is an easy spot to remove. The last thing you want after a party is to spend a lot of time cleaning carpet stains caused by an overzealous party goer. Pour some vinegar onto a cloth and blot the stain until it's lifted. If you can't live with the smell of vinegar, blot again with a damp sponge.
