    Surge Brakes Saftey Wire

I can't believe I did this stupid thing but I unhooked my 196 from the truck but forgot to remove the brakes saftey wire and then when I pulled the truck ahead it broke the saftey cable. Any idea how to reattached the saftey wire? I have attached a photo of my trailer coupling. If all else fails how do I blame this one on my wife?

Make a new cable out of materials from any home improvement store. Simple. Don't worry, I did the exact same thing this spring. First time in over 27 years of doing it myself.......stuff happens.

Yep - you can rebuild it with glavanized wire rope and crimps, etc. from the hardware ailse. Depending on how yours mounts, I've seen these in the trailer parts stores for cheap. I think mine comes out with the removal of an 1/8" roll pin.

That is a UFP Actuator Here is a link to their web page http://www.ufpnet.com/ download the manual and it will show you the exp;loded view. Contact them and they can send you a new cable and clips. They are located in San Marcos CA north of San Diego.
