I have a bad Optima battery - it's a blue top that powers the stereo. I have a red top that is the starting battery. The blue top doesn't ever show that it's charging - when the switch is on the red top it shows a charge of 14, when on the blue top it shows a charge of 10/11 maybe.... I am curious if the bad battery will actually HURT the alternator?
