Perfect Pass install on Sport Nautique

I plan on ordering PP Wakeboard Pro next week. Does anyone have pictures of their install of the paddle wheel? I want to get the location right. Also, can you use 3m 5200 fast cure to seal it? Thanks.

Here are the pictures that came with my manual. I believe 5200 would be the sealant of choice, but I did not do my own install.

Post your thoughts once you've installed it. I've been thinking about getting it for my '93 and would like to see how your install goes.

About how far did you drill the hole in front of the raw water intake?

I thought you were not supposed to mount the wheel in front of any intakes on the boat as it might skew the readings?

Look at pic DSCN3521_small.jpg here: http://www.planetnautique.com/index....pic&t=2949. It looks like it's about 12" in front of the RWI.

Keep it well away from any water intakes. 12" should be ok, but the PP does disrupt the water just by being there. Also, measure 8 million times before you drill that hole. Then double check it. 5200 is a good choice on the sealer, that stuff is great.

All the pictures I've seen of the installs show it on the port side, the same as the RWI. I don't believe I have any water intakes on the starboard side, why not put it there?

No reason. Put it where you have room to work. I cannot remember who posted the magnet trick for lining up your hole in a good spot. Try a search, it may have ben Wake_fun.
Measure, measure, measure, double check, then drill.

Why get the paddle wheel version at this point? Why not the stargazer? Personally, I still think an RPM pull is the best anyway, even for wakeboarding.

I'm on a lake that's really a river, so it flows. The GPS won't compensate for the speed of the water, so it'd be useless.

I must be missing something. That makes no sense to me. GPS measures elapsed time from point a to point B. It will compensate for speed of the water.

On the other hand, a paddle wheel does not compensate for speed of the water. The paddle wheel only registers how fast the boat is passing over the water.
I haven't used a water ski version of perfect pass in a long time, but I thought it had a function to enter estimated water speed in attempt to help compensate. ICBW.

There were a few discussions about this at the time that the GPS systems were coming out. IIRC there were patches for the Zero Off to compensate for this. Given that, my opinion is that if you are in a lake part of the river the flow is greatly reduced so you should be fine with whatever you choose. I could very well be wrong too, but do a search on older discussions abuot Zero off, and Stargazer. That or simply call them.

That still wouldn't work, because I turn around near the Dam.
