I have the ZR6 engine in my SV211. The scheduled maintenance in the owners manual that came with the boat says change the engine oil every 50 hours. The manual you have here on the web site says every 100 hours which is more what I am used to. Has something changed or is 100 still good? I bought the boat with 60 hours on it at which time the dealer changed the oil. We have put 50 hrs on it in less than 1 month. I am not going to do this myself and I do not have a trailer hence incuring a travel fee for any service. I want to take good care of my investment but do not want to over do it with unnecessary maintenance. If I stuck with a 100 hrs (or nearly 100) would/could this affect my warranty? Any observations, opions, recomendations welcome.

The first oil change should have happened at 25 hours, as part of the 25-hour inspection. From that point on, it should be changed every 50 hours.
Which manual are you referring to as listing 100-hour change intervals?I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. Does anyone know why the oil needs changing every 50 hours? I have been changing mine every 50, [its a PCM 330 excaliber] but when I talk to [non-ski] boat owners, they think 100 hours is excessive. After all, they say, its essentially a chevy 5.7 vortec engine. Final note: the PCM plate on the engine itself states that the oil should be changed every 100 hours while the manual says every 50.

Keep in mind that when you use these boats you quickly go to high RPM stay there for a rather long period of time , Slow down and repeat. Then you park the boat in a wet enviromnent and repeat next weeekend. This means the oil is worked hard put away wet run hard etc. It is so easy to change the oil every 50 hours with either the auto drain hose on the trailer or some of the dipstick pumps it shouldnt take more than 1/2 hour.
