    2000-2002 digital speedometer

This is my first year with a model year 2001 SN. The boat has 110 hours on it and the digital gauges are still working. I was just out checking the speedo calibration with a GPS and couldn't get the speedo into calibration mode. I followed the manual instructions of pressing the up and down arrows at the same time but I couldn't get the display to read "CALIBRATION X.X". I believe it reads "P EXIT S " when I press both arrows.

Am I doing something wrong or is this typical of the gauge on it's way out?

Also, what does the "P EXIT S" refer to?

I believe it is asking you to select the Port or Starboard speedometer by pressing one of the arrow keys or press the center button to exit.

According to the manual I should get the words 'Calibration X.X" when I do the button pushes I described. Instead I get "P EXIT S". I also assumed that P meant port and S starboard but I only have 1 speedometer (with port and starboard pitot tubes) but what does this have to do with calibrating the speedo?. It doesn't make sense to me that you calibrate the pitot tubes. Again the boat has 1 speedometer that accepts the input from 2 pitot tubes and displays the highest speed value received from the tubes.

      I'm still confused.

Each Pitot will be slightly different You may have to pick which one to run before calibration. Keep in mind pitot driven speedos are only good at a certain range so you need to calibrate it at the speed you will use the most.

Problem solved. My boat is a 2001 but I read the instructions for 2000 and also 2002 to see if they were different. I found the 2002 instructions described what I was observing better than the manual that came with my boat. So I was able to do the calibration.

Thank you both for your advice.
