12V doesn't work, i am assuming it blew a fuse but don't know where the fuse box is located in a 1997 sport nautique GT40. If the fuse is not the problem i will go from there but that will be the first check.
Corrosion, wire off? Have you tested the wires leading to it to see if you have power just prior to the outlet? Start with the obvious (easiest) and work backwards. If all else is working I would lean to corrosion or a loose wire.

My 12volt receptacle on my 97 super sport is powered up by the accessory 1 circuit breaker (the push button panel next to the key). That is the "fuse panel" so to speak. You can always pull the dash panel back and follow the wires from it. I bet it goes to a circuit breaker.
checked the wiring, it is connected and doesn't look corroded. guess i will buy something to check voltage prior to connection. didn't know if boats had a panel similar to cars where i could easily switch out the fuses, guess not.
Get a inexpensive volt/ohm meter. You'll find it real handy for troubleshooting and won't becaome simply a "parts changer". They come with instructions for basic testing.
If you get the 12 volt nominal to the backside of the lighters socket, them ohm out the lighter itself. If open then it's simply a burnt out element.
Keep in mind that breakers don't pop and fuses don't blow without a reason. Check with the meter before you reset a breaker or put a new fuse into any circuit.
