Nautique Teleflex Gauge Problems

Don't know, but how do you hear about such things? Is there some place to go to research hull or engine numbers? If this was the case then someone seriously mis-lead Joesboatn!!!

Yeah, that's not cool. I read about it in an earlier post. As far as I know, the only way to research things like that is to go through whatever dealer they've been dealing with. Hopefully they keep some sort of records linked to the HIN.

Jeff, what is your opinion on the Teleflex gauge issue in the Correct Craft boats from '00-'02? Seems to me either CC or Teleflex should step up to the plate here!

I would not want to do anything irrational, but it seems pretty black and white to me. The ideal scenario would be to have some compensation for the loss of resale value. Just my humble opinion.

I can certainly understand your frustration, especially in your particular case. I would be very upset if something similar happened to me. I would rather not comment on any legal issues that might come out of this though. I will say that I personally believe (as it appears that you do) that Teleflex should be held more accountable for this issue than Correct Craft.

I can certainly understand your thinking. This is an unfortunate situation, and there very well may be more impact as these boats get older. The situation discussed above is a prime example of how these failing gauges can really impact some buyers. As I said above, my personal opinion is that this is a Teleflex problem, and that they should be the ones to deal with their failing equipment.

I agree 100%. I am becoming more and more motivated to address the issue with Teleflex. Although Correct Craft should also back the end user of its product. I think that they should at least be aware that this is a growing concern that directly effects their customers.

I just heard from my dealer M2O in San Diego that my guage replacements are on the way. The speedo works off of the paddle wheel on my PP and the Tach virtually replaces the old tach. Because I have PP it's 199.00. My boat says 360 hrs on PP ( Upgraded to 6.4) 989 on the teleflex guage and 1289 on the manual hourmeter on the bulkhead next to the driver. I beleive the manual guage. However it's always buyer beware. I checked with the dealer that was servicing the boat before I bought it to be sure there wasn't a history of failures.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't the hours be read out of the motor managment unit (MMU)? It seems logical to store the exact amount of hours in the boat engine computer.
I even don't believe the hours come on an analog meter. For 50 bucks you've got a new guage.

If I remember correctly, that wasn't possible with the Ford PCM engines. It is possible with the GM engines though.

I had a tech go out and a speedo go out within the first two months of owning my '02 SANTE. I also had a perfectpass problem, and the brain was replaced I think. So now my PP shows 97.1 hours, and my tach shows 107.7 hours. I beilieve that I actually have closer to 130 hours on the boat. I do have the Excalibur 330, so I guess next time I bring the boat in for servicing, I will have them read the computer and give me an exact no. of hours on the boat.

I saw a set of gauges on e-bay a while back, and I am so worried about them going out, and not being replacable because they were only used for three years, that I though about buying them just to keep on the shelf.

I am seriously considering the replacement gauges to get away from the digital readouts, but I doubt I will do it since the analog replace ments don't match the other gauges that well.

I think we should do something to get teleflex to offer some nice appearing (matching) analogue gauges at a REASONABLE cost since these were such a major failure.

Also to those that think CC is totally blameless since they did not make the gauges, remember THEY dicided to use them, not teleflex. If CC thought they would be troublesome, they should have found a different vendor. But also look at it this way, CC rolled the dice on a new upgrade, and unfortunatly came up craps. Without taking a chance now and then you will not stay the class leader. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it backfires.

As I said earlier, the best sollution for me would be some matching analogue gauses that can replace the digitals for a reasonable cost.

It was a bad decision by CC to use the gauges, but there was no way of knowing that at the time. They did indeed go to another vendor when problems arose with the gauges. That's probably one of the reason the new boats have Faria gauges. I feel that this is a teleflex problem, and they should be held responsible, but I think Correct Craft should be willing to help THEIR customers get satisfaction, whether that means applying corporate pressure to Teleflex, or working with customers to help them get through their particular situations.

Has anyone participating in this thread spoken with a factory representative about this problem? If so, what's their take on it?

The hours can not be read from the computer on the Ford Engines. They can be read from the computer on all chevy engines though. The hour meter associated with the PP only registers if the cruise control is turned on. I do know that CC has been in a heated debate with Teleflex for quite some time. The outcome = I don't know. If you are having major issues, I would suggest switching to the Faria gauges and be done. As far as the hours and resale, you should be just fine if you have your boat serviced at the dealer as they should be keeping track of the hours when they service your boat.

When I was researching the boat I bought, South East Correct Craft
is where the maintenance was done... Woody who I think runs the mtc
dept gave me a verbal report of all mtc accomp....(wouldnt provide hard copies ???) I inquired about the guages and he (Woody) told me the Y2k was the only year with a problem... that the frist year came out with unsealed mode select buttons and moisture was able to get in... that teleflex was replacing those under warranty... 5yrs if I remember correctly...
Are the 2001 and 2002 failing also.... or is this an original issue y2k issue as Woody lead me to believe...

I have seen issues in all of them but more so in the 2000 models. The only ones covered for 5 years are the ones in the 2002 boats because they have a 5 year bumper to bumper warranty

Are you sure the '02 has the 5 year bumper to bumper? I thought that was '03 where they did that. I thought '02 had 3 year bumper rail to bumper rail. I will have to pull my owner's manual to verify that.

Yeah 2002 started the 5 year bumper to bumper warranty. In 2003, they switched to the Faria gauges
