    Cracks in gelcoat from tower?

I have a '99 Air Nautique with the original Flight Control Tower. I've had the boat since 2001 and last month I noticed some hairline cracks in the gelcoat around the mounting base of the tower on the passenger side which is where my hydrofoil is mounted. There is no back up mounting plate underneath the fiberglass deck, just bolts with nuts and washers. Just wondering if anybody else has had a similar issue with their tower. As far as additional weight on the tower, (2) pairs of 6" Polk speakers w/brackets, wakeboard w/bracket on driver side, and hydrofoil w/bracket on passenger side. I just wonder if the original factory towers were designed to carry alot of additional weight? Thanks.

I am pretty sure my 99' had backing plates from the factory, would think you should add them and be sure the bolts remain tight.

Thanks, I'm gonna make a couple of aluminum plates and see how that works.
