What would you use to clean dirt off the bottom of the hull? bristle brush?

Dirt? You mean brown stains? I'd use Starbrite hull cleaner.

yeah dirt from driving through rain with the trailer and collecting dirt from the road

Uhhh.. water and a soft rag. Really. If it sticks, it ain't just dirt.

I didn't know if a bristle brush would damage the gel coat on the bottom

Are you trolling? Why would you need a bristle brush for simple road grime?
