    Small Leak

I have a 1990 SN with a 351. I have a small water leak in ghe fiberglass tube that connects the two exhaust risers at the rear of the engine. The leak is just a small pin hole but I dont want it to get worse. Can I just use fiberglass to patch it? The leak is just to the left of the hose clamp on the left.

    Thanks for you input.

hmmm, looks like Pro-Tec ignition to me... be careful with those coil packs.

also, I believe the aluminum square above your fender is the prop rod support, the rod below the exhaust hose on that side is what goes there if you want another option for supporting the opened motor box

What are my options to replace the Pro-Tec ignition? Also, I do know about the prop rod support but it was not holding the engine cover up high enough. I never really tie up to a dock so this seemed like a good use for the fender. Thanks for the info on the epoxy resin I will give it a try tomorrow.

Love the idea of the rubber fender. My supports wore out and I've been using a water ski to prop open the engine box!

Yes, you can patch this. My source of fiberglass and epoxy resin is Tap Plastics. I used their marine epoxy resin.

I used the fast setting 102 epoxy hardener with the 314 resin.
If you need a form to hold fiberglass and epoxy on the inside of the muffler, or tube, you can do this. Go get a package of latex balloons, and blow one on the inside the tube, or muffler to hold the glass and resin on the interior wall of the object. Of course, you must clean, and grind, and clean again, any surface you want the epoxy to stick to.
