    Prop suggestion for a 1996 SN?

    We do mostly water-skiing and are in need of a new prop. I have the GT-40 engine and usually ski with only one or two other people in the boat. I weigh 190 and the other skiers are much lighter than me. I don't know if the prop can make a difference in the wake, but the smoother the better for us. Any suggestions?

    i believe the most popular and liked prop is the ACME 422. some have tried a three blade on here and posted results.... I think the three blade was higher top end about 200 rpm higher rev. per mph at the top end. I found this from Jeff. feel free to correct me (anyone)

    hope this helps!

    Nautiquejeff's comments;

    Here's some information from ACME props. Not sure if it is exactly what you're looking for, but it might help. These are 4-blade props. Their web site seems to be down right now, but the address is www.acmemarine.com.

    12.5X15.5X1.0-RH (#422) is for direct drive (center engine) Nautiques with PCM Power-Plus Transmissions (from 1989 to present). Replaces 14x16RH 3 bladed prop.

    13.0X12.5X1.0-RH (#208) is for direct drive (center engine) Nautiques with Warner Gear 1:1 Transmission (prior to 1989). Replaces 13x13RH 3-bladed prop.

    13.5X17.5X1-1/8RH (#380) is for V-DRIVE Nautiques without ballast tanks OR with factory installed rear ballast tanks only.

    13.5X16.0X1-1/8RH (#536) is for V-DRIVE Nautiques with rear AND center ballast tanks or V-DRIVE Nautiques that have had additional weight (above factory installed rear tanks) placed in them.[/url]

      My 2000 SN was used for practice several years ago before the Malibu Open. Everyone there were going deep into 39 1/2 off. It has a 422 on it.

        The Acme 422 is the standard prop I'd put on one. On my 05 I put the 3 blade 670 on it. It turned 200 more rpm at 34mph, but had a bit softer wake.

          2go, I think you mean 470. No such thing as a 670 as far as Im aware.

          The 422 is a good prop, but the Acme 1442 (13.25x15 3-blade) is better in every way on that hull/motor combination. Ive tried them all and thats what Im running on my '90.

            My 1996 was purchased new in 1998. The boat was a leftover sitting at MWCC storehouse. It had a 3 blade on it stock but MWCC put a 4 blade that the 97 was using on it. Never got to try the 3 blade but everyone said get the 4 blade.

              The 13x16 4-blade Legend was a nice improvement over the stock 14x16 3-blades of the early-mid 90's (Ive seen both Federals and OJ's)... but they dont hold a candle to the new-tech CNC props. Like I said, Ive tried them all and nothing beats the 1442.

                Oops, yes that was a typo. 470 is what I meant to type.

                  which prop comes from factory on 2004 Air Natique SZ211 LE?

                  can anyone tell me with any certain which is the factory prop on my boat, this is a air nautique SV211 Limited Edition with Excal 330, walters V-Drive? What prop would you go with for a spare, different prop? It ha a 180 hours on motor, new to me over the past 30 days. Just getting into the Nautiques and love it. The boat has been shrinked wrapped in dry storage over the past 2 years. Any recommendations that I should be concerned with first? What are the first items I should watch out or monitor in the beginning? I am making a list of items that I want to upgrade and service concerns to be checked out once I get some run time on the boat. Since I have been watching this forum I have already learned alot from you huys. I will be replacing the factory kicker am 350.0 and clairon inboat speakers, 2 polk MOMO tower speaks once i am satisfied I have all or any mechical concerns addressed, corrected. Also changing out to new snap in carpet. Any additional advise is greatly appreciated.
