more problems to add to the list for my new SANTE

I took it out for the first time today and I figured out it has more problems with it than I had thought.

I tried to use the PP and it didnt seem to want to work. We went through the setup process and reset the whole thing and it went through the calibration and checklist and it all was within spec except the servo movement didnt happen and the whole time the servo seemed locked up. Is this a bad servo? Somethig else.

We were floating and I went to start the engine and hit start and the whole boat went dead. No guages, no music, nothing. I hit the perko switches for the batteries and brought it back up and then it seemed to work. Later in the day, All the buttons worked except the start button. Out of irritation, I slapped it and all of a suddon it worked again. When I bought the boat, it supposably had a new keypad installed. Could it be a faulty keypad or some other related component?

It seems when I buy a new nautique, it gives me nothing but problems for the first year and then it is reliable. This one really scares me because I can do all my own work, but when you have serial wire fed guages from a computer and a 8 wire hookup (or whatever it is) on a keypad that has a 16 button of functions, it might make my life miserable. I cant re-run anything, bypass anything, test anything other than power at the components.

Hopefully it gets better from here on out. :???: At least the wake was phenomenal.

try to turn the motor with your hand or a pair of channel locks. It could be siezed up. If you cant get it to turn I would just order another one. Cost you around $120 from PP. I went through the same thing on a previous boat.

Is it a direct replacement? With the servo locking up, would that harm any other componenets that I should be aware of?

I tried the chanellocks on it and with little effort, it did loosen up and now it can twise freely. I plan on going back to the lake tomorrow morning so I will re try the perfect pass now with that moving.

From that, anow any ideas on the keypad?

Man, Sorry to hear you are having so many problems with your new boat. It seems like these should have been taken care of before you bought the boat. I find it hard to believe that all the issues are suddenly popping up.
IIRC you bought this from a dealer in NE or OK, right? Have you asked them for help, at least on some of the replacement parts you need? I know you said Son was going to help get you running too. Any help there on the technical side?

It could've been that someone just tightened the heck out of the servo knob and it was jammed. Now that you have it broken free, run the servo test from the PP display and see if it moves it.

apparently all I did was break the knob off of the servo with a channellocks. From that, the throttle cable became loose and I couldnt do anything but idle. I improvised and tied a knot in the stringand tied it to the bracket. That got me manual throttle control so i could ride today. I believe the servo is still locked up tight. I guess I will just buy a new one. Where is a good place to buy one? Hopefully it is easy to set up.

I was out all day today and I didnt have one problem with the keypad. On the good side, it seems that the borrowed gateway is functioning perfectly so I guess I will have to break down and pick one up for my boat. If it wasnt for the recession deal I got on this boat, I would think I got screwed on it in the end, but compared to what it should have been, I am still in a good position on it.

Just get one from whitelake or straight from PP. Really easy to set up. Pretty much just unbolt the old one and bolt up the new one. connect your wires and go enjoy the day. Would this boat be a salt water boat by chance? Also, if the servo was locked up like that, I would check the PP cable and make sure it is sliding back and forth freely in the rubber sheath (or what ever you want to call it). It should easily slide back and forth with very litte effort. If it is in question I would just get them to send another one for the heck of it. They are really cheap. Sorry you are having problems with your boat. I have been there. don't get discouraged. As long as the hull and engine are in working order the rest are things that need attention from time to time on any boat.

I just got off the phone with PP and he confirmed that the servo was locked up. He also told me that since I broke the knob seat with the channellocks, I will need a new cable for it too. I called mark at son watersports and he is getting the new gateway computer and the perfect pass pass parts I need as well as the gelcoat patch I will need for the minor touch-ups.

This is starting to get expensive, but normal for me. Like I said, the first year sucks maintenence wise, but is clear sailing from there out. I hope that is the case for me this time too. I could use some trouble free ownership especially since I wont have a job all winter and most of next year I am sure.

Had the same problem with my PP servo motor a couple years ago, got a new motor from PP, that was an easy fix...also replaced the keypad a few weeks later. When my keypad went out none of the buttons on it would work, it just happened all of a sudden.
