I finally found the source of my water leak; the raw water pickup's thru-hull fitting. I assume that the sealant used between the hull and fitting has gone bad, hence the leak.
It appears as if there is not enough room to spin the brass valve and various fittings off with the transmission in place. (2003 196) Is this the case?
If I can get the fittings and what not off, and remove the large brass nut inside in the hull, does the fitting/strainer screen on the bottom of the hull just push off from inside?
