Need to order gas shocks, but stronger version

I need to replace the gas shock on my glove box, and the two that hold the passenger seat up. However, I would like to get stronger shocks. I know that I can order generic shocks from McMaster Carr, but does anybody know the rating of the stock shocks? This is for an '03 196.

I want to get stronger shocks because the glove box one fails all the time, and I have some extra weight hanging on the back of my passenger seat (amplifier).

    Thanks

    78,
If no one knows the rating of the OEM's, go through the formula/calculation that McMaster offers. I'd go through it anyway because the factory may have undersized the originals!!!

The glove box standard is a 20lb I found a 40lb at Napa, but it was to strong and distorted the hinges. The 20lb napa one has lasted 3 seasons so far. Do a search on napa gas shock and I think you will find some info.

Note to self, check hinges tonight. I have used the 40 lb NAPA shock for nearly 2 seasons and have been pleased (unless I get home tonight and find messed up hinges).

I've used the 40 lb for 3 years with no hinge or mount problems

I replaced mine with a 20lb stainless steel one from West Marine, I also tried the 40lb but was some what harder to close.
