    boat missing...help!

I have a 01 210 san. I was out today and it seemed to be missing a little bit out of the hole. I just filled up from empty. I thought maybe a little trash maybe some water. Well it cleared up and when I was pulling my buddy up, it missed bad and the check engine light came on. All of my gauges were fine. I looked back up and the light was off. It went back to running fine. Then did it again. Loaded it up and came home. What do yall think about the situation?

    RE: boat missing...help!

Dude, your title is a little misleading. I almost hoped in my car and went looking for your boat.

There are a lot of experts on this site, I'm not one of the motor guys, but I might check the Fuel for water or change the fuel filter. JMO

Check the fuel pressure sounds like the pump is starting to go.

I would not rule out the secondary side of the ignition system. You do not say how many hours are on the boat, but your spark plugs, plug wires, distributer cap, and rotor all could be reaching the end of their useful life.
Accelerating with a heavy load places the most demand on the ignition system, and then a high speed run also puts the ignition system to the test.
You could find a knowledgeable mechanic with an ignition scope, and pinpoint the part or parts at fault, but that usually costs more than just replacing the mentioned parts.

I had the same exact issue not long after I bought my 2001 SAN this summer. We thought that we had fuel pump problems since that seems to be the common thing people check and have success after fixing. But we went ahead and changed out the distributor cap and plugs and still had the miss after a lot of fuel pump experimenting as well. When it came down to it we had an alternator belt come off which nicked a plug wire and they were arcing. It sounded like the boat wasn't getting fuel, bad vibration at take off. Changed the plug wires and it ran better than it did the day we brought it home. I would definitely follow Daniel C's advice. It took my dad and me less than two hours to change plugs, wires, and dcap by ourselves. It's worth a shot.
            hope this helps.

fuel filter needs replacing every year or 100 hrs
cap rotor clean or replaced 100hrs or 1 year
plugs changed every year or 100hrs unless iridium, then 500hrs or 5 years

                  talked to a dealer

Ok I called a dealership and they told me more than likely it was a fuel pump. So they told me to unscrew the canister were the hp fuel pump and filter is and take it off. He said if it is full of fuel it is going to be my hp pump that went out. If it was empty my lp pump. Well it was full. So I wanted to ask if any of you have had this problem before I go and spend 175-200 on a hp pump. The filter is clean, no water in gas and plug wires and plugs good.

                    Thanks White Lake Marine

I called white lake marine to order a new fuel pump. I told him the story and he told me to take the wire off of my oil pressure sensor. Sure enough it worked fine. The sensor had went bad. Man I owe those guys, Oil pressure sensor 10-15 bucks, hp fuel pump 150 bucks. Thanks white lake marine!!

You were going to buy a pump without checking power and ground? Be thankful its not MC their pump is $600.
I'm glad you got it fixed.
