    Sorry, another winterization question.

Hey, on the closed cooling systems does antifreeze circulate through the heater or raw water? Also if I just run a couple jugs of rv antifreeze through the system is that good enough? It was coming out of the exhaust and I pulled the v drive plug it was coming out of there as well. Good enough?

Closed system usually has engine antifreeze in the heater.
Did you drain the part of the system with raw water in it?
How severe are your winters? In western Oregon, you are probably OK, in Montana, probably not.

Im from Canada so, It get below minus 30 sometimes. I didn't drain anything just ran about 20 litres of antifreeze through it. I kust put a big funnel in at the raw water intake and poored it in while it was running.

Unless you have a full closed (as opposed to half closed cooling more std. on boats), there will be water in the heat exchanger for sure. At -30, I'd be sure to do this right or you will have an unhappy spring.

Listen to others from cold climates on winterization. A cold winter here has a week of above 20 degrees temperature. Some winters, it does not even freeze, just frost on a windshields.

If you used RV antifreeze and did not drain, you need to do it again. RV antifreeze is NOT meant to bve diluted. If you used automotive AF, you would have been ok. Better to do it right now than probably be sorry in the spring. I live in the same climate as you. I switched to RV last year.
I would always recommend draining prior to using either method now.

A note on using automotive AF to winterize the raw water pathways - if you do use it, remember it is toxic/poisonous and must be fully flushed out of the system prior to launching in the Spring... IMHO, you should never run green/automotive AF to winterize your boat.
