    RE: Re: RE: Impeller

I never replaced the impeller on my 96. I assume it was original when I bought the boat (it had 9 hrs). So that would have been 360 hrs over 13 years. Never ever ran it dry, used A/F in the winter. Had impeller issues with my first boat, so I always kept a close eye on the temp, but no problems. They're so **** cheap and easy, I'm not sure that's the right answer, just what I did.

Of course not, but when your winterization procedure is as follows:

      * Drain all water out the system - all plugs, lines, etc
      * Manually fill the exhaust manifolds with AF.
      * Disconnect the raw water pick up that goes from the bottom of the boat and into the strainer.
      * connect a 6' section of 1" hose to the input of the strainer, and put the other end in a 5 gallon bucket that is filled with AF.
      * Turn over the engine and suck the AF into the system until its fully primed.
      * Remove impeller so it doesn't sit in the AF all winter.
      * Rest easy with the piece of mind that no part of your system will be subject to freeze damage.

Your impeller will be immersed in AF for the winter if you don't remove it as referenced above...
