Hi, my 2001 SN with GT40 fresh water cooling system is overheating at high RPM, idle is OK. I have noticed that the internal piston in the clear body flushpro does not rise dramatically like on my older model flushpro. The newer version that appears to be made stronger has a black plunger / pistion but I dont see it rise when the revs increase. I suspected my raw water pump and have replaced the O ring, gasket and impeller, still the plunger does not rise and I'm unsue if I'm getting enough raw water through. Any ideas??? Should the plunger rise up with water flow???? Please help, Greg

10 years and 0 problems with Flushpro's in 2 different boats. ( I live on a saltwater lagoon, so flushing is a way of life). If you route it properly so that it can't be struck by anything I think the risks are less than minimal. My current boat (07 SV11 TE, Excalibur w/closed cooling) came with the factory flush kit and that thing is useless.
BTW, I don't know if the plunger moves when lake water is running through it. I think the plunger (check valve) only moves in the other direction when hose water pressure is detected so that water doesn't escape through the intake.

FlushPro Logic
I just added a FP to my 93'. It would make sense that you would not see any large amoutn of movement as the plunger diameter is rather large. TO get an opening equivalent to the 1" line you wouldn't need to open the plunger more than 1/8-1/4".____________________________________________

There are many posts on this...I suggest using the valve setup and 5 gallon bucket trick that I think is DanielC's invention...need to search for it to be sure. Use the search feature and search for "flush" with airtool or danielc as poster.

I agree with airtool, use a t-connector and fabricate something on your own. There are many threads on this site as well as others on the internet on this subject. I put a flush pro on and it first started leaking around the seams then it spontaneously broke in half while underway one day. Of course I was WAY out from the boat ramp on a lake where I knew no one and had to be towed in by a pontoon boat with a 1980s 50 hp evinrude. I just don't trust the little piece of plastic anymore. I don't run in saltwater but I wonder what the long term affects of the salt water on the spring inside the flushpro would be. If I remember correctly, isn't there a thin spring inside? I may be wrong though.
