    Oil and Specs.

Wondering the opinions of all the motorheads about using MOBIL 1 in the ZR6?

I have seen some reference to using Diesel Grade Oil and am curious as to the advantage of that. What about MOBIL 1 Turbo Diesel ?

Also wondering where to get good specs on the PCM ZR6? Not much information in the owners manual. Too busy covering their sterns from product liability.

    Any and all comments welcome.

    Thanks

Waste of money and (now lower) risk of elastomer compatibility.

Don't get me wrong....I love to waste money. I'll waste it on something else.

Use what your manual recommends. If you insist on using a synthetic oil, and it is not recommended by PCM, do not extend the oil change intervals, and you still need to change it at the end of the season, so your engine sits all winter long with fresh oil.
Do not use orange oil filters. The remote mount uses Ford filter. Get the Motorcraft FL1-A, I have been able to find them at Wal-Mart, usually less than $4.00. The last batch of filters I bought were still made in the USA.

For substance to your "no orange oil filters" I have added a link to other moterhead lurkers.

I actually talked to a guy at PCM, and despite what the recommendation they post and print about synthetic oil, they do not recommend against it at all. I asked if I could post a copy of his response to me and he preferred that I do not. So I am paraphrasing. I run Mobil 1 in my SAN, but am sticking with conventional in the Mustang, someday the Nautique, and my wife's convertible.
