mildew on seats!!!

I have a 01 210 and I live in florida. We have been getting alot of wet weather and the other day I was hooking up to hit the river and there is mildew showing up on my seats. What can I use on the seats to get the mold off. I have read about different products but what do you guys recommend. Thanks

I have an 01 210 as well and had some mildew show up on the seat the other day. I believe it mainly comes from the snap on cover resting on the seats. As far as getting the mildew off I used the z-care that I bought from White Lake Marine and it took it right off. I believe it's about $13 a bottle. Great, GREAT stuff.

I would use starbrite mildew remover. If its on the seats its EVERYWHERE! I would suggest cleaning the h#(( out of your boat to ensure it doesnt return.

I second that. Really clean your boat well. I got mildew in mine because of an old cover. Make sure you don't have anything touching your seats and get some airflow in there if you can. If you have a lift take the plug out to let the water drain. Get this problem before it takes over...seriously.

I've had to temporarily park my 210 in the driveway because of project taking up my garage. I've been running a West Marine electric dehumidifier fan and have two buckets of moisture absorbent. This does the trick for the most part, however, I'm still getting some spotting where my cover rests on my rear deck lid. I'm sure I could use a new cover but does anyone have a creative approach to keeping the cover off the deck lid? I was thinking of laying some 3/4" PVC across the deck with through-holes in the piping for better ventilation. Any thoughts?

I know that I am going to hear a lot of people say I shouldn't be using it, but I use a slightly watered down Tilex, spray it directly on a few seats at a time, let it set a few minutes - then scrub with mild soap and a sponge or soft brush and rinse. After the mildew is gone, I use mild soap and flood, and I mean flood the seats - especially the seams with clean fresh water. I remove the hose nozzle and press the hose on the the seams and run the entire length of the seams. After the seats are air dried for a day - I use Maguires leather conditioner (a white cream), and just applied it and work it into the seats with my bare hands (just think about massaging your girls back and shoulders, wait - maybe you shouldn't think that, lol). My 5 y.o SAN seats still look like new, and are just as soft to the touch. I have used the same procedure on a previous boat and no problems after 6-7 years. This is quite a procedure, but it works for me. I also be sure to wipe down after every use, and pull the seats away from the sides when not used, so air will circulate. I good quality (Sunbrella) cover with a pole vent also helps.

Getting some air flowing really helps. I installed two of these in my cover - one on the bow pole, one off the rear pole - very easy - $13 dollars each.

you guys need to add to follow the cleaning (i use the starbrite mildew cleaner which is awesome) you must go back with a protectant ot the mildew will come right back. I cleaned my 00 very heavt one time and did not follow with protector/conditioner and the mildew came right back but way worse.
