True....$10 a foot is typical. Make sure you ask what their buffing method is... I paid for this once and had a substantial amount of swirl marks show up on the boat. Be careful.
    Peace..

Not meaning to be demeaning but $10 per foot does not hardly cover the cost of the materials to detail a boat, We change our pads every other detail and we also use two different buffers with different types of pads. material costs on a complete detail will run nearly $50.00 per boat, Wax, pads , compound, teak oil, good soft rags, ECT ECT. Commonly we get $17 per foot, That includes wash, buff, power wash and vacume carpets, interrior wash, wax, clean and vacume, wiping down of motor and removing belt dust and excess oils, Glass gets windex and rainex. Trailer done also wheels and tires. If extra sanding or excessive color degradation is present we charge by the hour to sand and buff ($85).

What teamseal is suggesting is more in line with what I have experienced with light oxidation being more and heavy oxidation being A LOT more.

I also agree with teamseal. I do all my cleaning myself we spend 45-60 Min's after each outing wiping everything
including the trailer. 2-3 times a season I do a complete detail witch can take 1 to 1 1/2 days at $17 per foot that's $357 its not out of line to have a full buff and detail done right.

Here's my take. I have a 93 closed that has two pinstripes above and below the blue mid trim. Bought the boat with 400 hrs and it looked like showroom. After 3 seasons and a couple hundred in various waxes/restorers I found that using 3M Marine restorer and wax took out water lines and oxidation on the blue above the water line but had to use a heavy hand. Tried to use a buffer but with so many gaphics it was pointless. After that I used Meguirs Step 3 Deep Crystal System Carnuba Wax. It has a nice "wet look." What hasn't worked is 3M Marine Finesse-It II Glaze, Collinites 925, Meguiars cleaner/wax one step. I take an exterme pride in keeping my nautique in presteen condition and have taken advice from numerous threads along with spending over $200 in waxes that will keep my 93 looking like a 2010. Really choosing a wax or restorer depends on the year and what types of colors your trying to clean. My boat is trailered so I can not help with docked boats but take caution to all suggestions and make sure you designate the colors on the hull design before asking what to use..
