The second season I owned my 2003 206, I noticed that the plastic "cup" around the fresh water strainer was cracked. Replaced it under warranty with no problems. Three years later, I discovered that the cup is again cracked. Boat has never overheated, and I empty the cup when I winterize. Cup is installed only hand tight. New cup is $43 (!!). Has anybody else had a problem with this part? Any ideas what I might be doing wrong that has caused the issue?

When you winterize, do you run the pink AF through the engine? If so, do you leave it in the strainer bowl? I've heard that the AF will cause the plastic bowl to craze and crack. If this is how you winterize, you should empty the bowl and rinse it out with fresh water.2003 SAN (current)

I have heard that about the AF also. One of the alcohols dries it out and makes it more brittle.the WakeSlayer

I always pull the cup off, clean it, and put the O ring around the cup, and put the cup in the cup holder for the winter. I always take the impeller out too, and that goes in the strainer cup. All parts on one place easy to find when it goes back together in the spring.

Yep don't leave the PINK stuff in the cup.
Call White Lake Marine, use the PN discount. They might have just the cup and not the complete assembly

Thanks for the replies. I do take the cup off and empty it of antifreeze, but I probably don't do a good enough job of rinsing it out. From now on, I will give it a good washing and hope that solves the problem.
