    PCM Ford Drain Plug Locations

Richard from Skidim.com helped me out with a diagram of the cooling drain plug locations. Great help for me because it is my first year to own my SSN. Thanks Richard!

RE: PCM Ford Drain Plug Locations

Has anyone used the easy drain ball valves from Skidim? I plan on using my boat through the winter, but want to be able to drain the thing pretty quickly. After all of the water is out should you close the valves or leave them open?

I just remove the plugs drain the water put them back in and pour 50-50 mix of antifreeze in the hose that goes from the raw water pump into the thermostat housing. 2 gals will fill the engine and exhaust. It will start to come out the exhaust flappers. I have a complete step by step winterizing procedure give me your email and I will send it to you.

I have these on my GT-40 and they're great. The previous owner installed them.
I have a direct drive so getting at all these locations is easy and it wouldn't be a big deal to use the normal drain plugs.
If you have a vdrive, I can see where they are even more of an advantage.

If you leave them open you know a little residual water was not left in the block. If you put antifreeze in the block, of course you close them.

FYI - if the 50/50 Antifreeze your putting into the block is car antifreeze (green) remember you need to drain and flush it all out prior to launching in the Spring given its toxic. This is why most folks use the marine/RV antifreeze as its non toxic.

jmo is correct in the spring put a 5 gal bucket under each exhaust outlet on the outside of the boat and run it using a fake lake untill it runs clear water. then take the antifreeze to a car service center to dispose of. I am not sure the RV antifreeze will inhibit rust formation.
