    Motor cooling issues

I am having trouble with the coolant system on a 03 SANTE with PCM 330 I emptied the strainer with gasket on the bowl and it is not filling up the bowl again. it got up in the 210 degree range and was turned off immediatly. it make a screeching sound now and will not pump water in it. the boat is stuck on a private lake. What is the easiest way to back flush the raw water intake system while in the water. and how much is it for the dealership to fix somthing as described.

    RE: Motor cooling issues

sounds like a burned up impeller and/or water pump. You will have to call the dealer on the cost...

Some of the 2003 Ex 330 engines had an issue with the water pump, and there was a recall. The pumps would lose prime, and destroy the impeller.
Ask your dealer about this recall.

the water pump has no effect on the raw water pump and since it will not fill the strainer to start with. So either it's not on right and your sucking air or you have an issue with the raw water pumps impellar or a valve was added and is closed preventing the raw water pump circuit to pull water from the lake or it's open allowing it to suck air and not water. Some tee in valves for flushing and other reasons not sure how yours is so just covering the bases.

But even with a bad circulation pump aka water pump the raw water pump that is in front of the circulation pump is going to work and the circulation pump does not have enough guts to draw water from the lake and through the raw water pump because if it did then there really wouldn't be a need for an axuilury pump now would it?

The recall, and the pump I was referring to is the raw water pump, not the circulating water pump on the engine.
My bad, I did not make that clear.

I think you were clear. You even referred to ruining the impeller and losing prime. Sure, the circulation pump has an impeller and could lose prime. But its impeller would not be destroyed. The bearing would not be happy, but that was not being discussed. And was there also a recall on the circulation pump that might cause confusion between two recalls? I don't think so.

I think bobchris just likes to jump on people.

bdow - did you originally empty the raw water strainer because it had tons of debris or gunk in it? If so, maybe the pickup/hose that draws water from the bottom of the boat is clogged? At this point your impeller is definitely toasted and will need to be replaced.
