          ZR-409

I did find it odd, have never seen or heard of the ZR-409 in a 2008. To the best of my knowledge it was factory owned for boats shows, appearances and demonstrations. I am the first private owner. It was the first year of the Mint & Chocolate color scheme and thus the reason it was used for display. Why the ZR-409 I am not sure.

              RE: ZR-409

I have a 1974 Ford F-250 super cab pickup, with the Ranger trim option, "Camper special"
              It has a 390 4v (venturi) engine.
Most everyone will tell you that the 390 4v was not an option until 1975. The engine was made in July of 1974, info from the "emissions" tune up sticker on the left valve cover. If the engine was made in July of 1974, it could have been put into a very late 1974 truck, for any number of reasons at the factory. The VIN code on the truck does have the "M" code, used to identify 1975 and later trucks with the 390 4v engine.

Must have either offered both or was mid year intro. I have only seen the ZR6 390 advertised and for sale in 2008. CC ad data has max HP as 390?

Remember that all printed brochures came out before the next model year (2008 literature came out in mid-2007) so it wouldnt reflect any mid-year changes. If you look at the myriad of CC brochures on CCFan, you'd notice that it was pretty common for them to use pictures and specs from the previous year. Id listen to teamseal (above), he would know for sure.

I do know for sure that there are no '08 196's with 409's though- the first 196 to get that engine was the '09 CCFan boat.

Good point about ad data being behind. Obviously both the ZR6 390 and ZR-409 were used in 2008; my recent purchase is evidence of that.

Keep in mind that the factory stops building what ever year boat in June or July They then retool for the next model year. It is not unusual for June boats to have next years graphics or engines
