    Blower Motor

Just purchased a 98 196 and need some help? The blower is not working and I'm not sure where the motor is located. Anyone have a suggestion on where to look and if I should look for something else in the trouble shooting process.

    Thanks
    Brian

    RE: Blower Motor

Possibly on the starboard side of the bilge, near the engine that drives the boat.
Try lifting the motor box cover and looking for it.

It will look something like this with hoses running around the engine to exhaust the fumes off and then headed to a transom vent.

I hope this does not come out wrong but I am curious as to how you know its not working if you are not sure where it is?

I Just bought a 202 SANTE and the blower was making a loud noise, so i decided to change mine as well. Just make sure to check if its a 3 inch or a 4 inch. NOt too sure what your size is on that boat. Luckily its only about 40 bucks to change and depending on the access takes about 30 min to change. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the info guys. I won't take anything personally if it helps I am used to hearing the blower motor running on other boats I've owned. I can not hear this motor running at all. Is that normal? I will look for it near the bildge.

I found the blower motor. It is not worling nor are there tubes running too or from the motor. Is this Right? Does anyone have a photo of this area from a 196?

            Thanks guys

It should have a tube from it for sure. Depending on where it is mounted, possibly to it. Are you getting power to it? You can take a voltmeter and verify. Secondly, check the switch at the dash. The breakers do go out occasionally, but are cheap and easy to replace. White Lake has them and as mentioned in the other thread, are a site sponsor.

purchased a '97 SN last year my blower hose had fallen off as well... re-attached and put a zip tie around the "connection". Only one hose connected on mine the goes to the back... I can feel air coming out the vent when it's on.

                hope this helps

I know that you found that it is not working, but once you get it working, you will probably be surprised how quiet it is. My blower on my nautique is much quieter than on my Tige. I have to ask people to be silent in order to hear it.
