I ran my v-drive out of oil and result in a grinding noise. does anyone know where I can find a pic of the inside before I dig into it. I have a 2002 SAN.

Replacing the vdrive, or even removing it isn't a simple operation. I assume there is no oil on the vdrive dipstick when you check it? How about the transmission? When was the last time the oil was changed on it? Finally, when are you getting the grinding noise? It's possible the noise isn't coming from the vdrive unit, could be you propeller isn't on snugly...

The alarm or light is supposed to tell you the V-drive is low on oil. Did that fail? Or are you talking about the trans? Vdrive is conventional oil, trans is Dexron (pink). Check both. Did you add oil and still get the noise?

Sorry to hear your bad news. No matter what the problem is, it sucks when you have to throw 'extra' money at your boat. Even with routine maintnance stuff goes wrong thou. On a side note: Where did you get your boat cover? I think it looks great and I would like to find out about getting one for my 210.

          V-Drive

I assume you have a Walters Vee Drive
They are known to leak from the bottom pan gasket, you should really check the level everytime you use the boat. Only takes a sec.,. I know thats little help to you now.
Your best bet is to send it to them for an over haul, it is not something you should consider tackling. Removing and replacing is also a big job, alignment must be correct or your could damage your trasnmission.

            RE: V-Drive

Thanks for the feed back. I have had the boat serviced every year and the trans oil was changed about 150 hrs ago. The wire was cut that went to the warning light so no light came on when the v-drive was hot. sounds like the boat is going into shop for work. so sad but a lesson learned. I have all ways tried to take good care of her but things can go over looked. The Boat Cover was custom made for the boat it self. sunbrella 1,500.00 I have one that is 6 years old and it looks new. so cal area is the guy that did it let me know if I can help you get one.
