    Drain in bow of boat.

I have a 2007 SV211 and love the boat. I have only taken water over the bow a couple of times. When it happened the water in the bow did not drain. There is a drain there and the carpet is cut out around it to accommodate the drain. Today as I was putting snaps in my new carpet I decieded to check the drain. I removed the cover and there was a hole but it did not go anywhere. It is about an inch deep and there is somthing in the bottom. It may be fiberglass but is is a little soft. It is not a clog. Any Ideas?

I would call roto rooter! J/k. Try a wet/dry vac and chisel the stuff out a little at a time. If you dont like to fix stuff yourself, just take it back to the dealer.

Is it a real drain or just show? That stuff in the bottom is solid.

It's probably a piece of carpet. I was having the same problem with mine. Pull the bow seats out and feel under where the drain is and see if you can pull it out. If Im not mistaken, the bow drain is not connected to a drain tube directly under the actual drain. I know what I just said maybe confusing but I don't know how else to say it. Bottom line is, its a clogged drain so unclog it.

It is not carpet. It is hard like fiberglass. I called CC today and they said drill it out. I said I will have the dealer drill it out. There should be a connection tube so I will let them figure it out.

Hmm interesting. I may be remembering incorrectly but I'm pretty sure mine did not have a connecting tube directly connected to this drain, it was under the next layer of fiberglass. My drain looked exactly like yours does in this pic and it was a piece of carpet folded up under there. I agree though, if it is fiberglass the dealer needs to drill that out. I wouldn't chance it either. Good luck.

No connection tube I have ever seen on any of the bow drains - just dumps right into bildge. Sounds like they fiberglass
was not completely drilled out at factory - maybe the holesaw broke during the drill out?

@ AuMDLST I think you are correct about holesaw problem. I did not think there would be a connection tude but CC said there was. It is about an hour to the dealer so I may look around before I pull it to them. I could cut it out if there is not tube. I may drill a small hole and se if I can see what is going on.

@tadelfio I hit it pretty hard with an All and it did not give. I think it is fiberglass. I will look at it one more time before hooking it up to go to the dealer.

Anyone have a 211 that have looked at the drain in the bow.

I have a 2005 SV211 with the same problem so I am interrsted in seeing what the solultion is. Mine is solid on the bottom of the drain as well with no tube connecting to it and why did they put all that steel wool type of material in there?

I would guess it's to serve as a filter as you will never be able to get under there to clean. Water gets out, debris stays there. Looks to be a feature, not a fault.

@steve LOL It works great too because no water has ever gotten through. I am not sure what the grey stuff is. I was thinking it was the fiber of fiberglass. I will Drill a hole Saturday and see what it might be.

Did you try to just pull the steel wool looking material out?

I am not sure why the steel wool was there. I wonder if it was to hide the fact they did not want to cut the hole. I drilled it out. Under the steel wool ther was a quarter inch of white fiberglass. There was not tube. I hope the did not drill it out because it need a tube and forgot and tried to hid it. I am a little concern water my splash up through the drain when you come to a stop. We get alot of water in the boat because they forgot to seal the top to the bottom and water comes in at the rub rail. Sometimes I think my boat did not have any QC. I have had a bunch of stuff like this happen.

Yah I know. The dealer did it once but did not go up the side far enough. I will wait until it warms up a little and do it myself.
