2008 230 won't turn off

howdy all. i took my 2008 SANTE 230 out on Sunday and when i pulled up to the boat ramp i tried to push the code in and push the off button to shut down the engine and the engine would not shut down. also, one of the ballast switches wouldn't stop running and i could not shut off the blower. i pushed those 3 buttons and nothing happened.

i had a 70W light in the engine compartment which i thought might have got the fuse box on top of the engine too hot and melted a fuse or a wire.

there were no issues with temp, the boat ran fine, ballasts turned on fine, blower fired up instantly and the heater works fine.

the ballast pumps, blower, and engine just wouldn't shut off when i pushed each button.

anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?

sounds like possibly the same problem i have. maybe it is the keypad.

Yep. Sounds like the keypad to me.

Same thing happened to me on an 08 210 at about 10 hours....engine wouldn't turn off, ballast pump stuck on...I shut down using the ignition disconnect switch below the throttle. After that, everything worked. CC West couldn't duplicate the problem but replaced the keypad as a "precaution." I'm at about 90 hours now and it hasn't happened again.

I have had this happen once in my 08 210. I did the same as you guys by turning it off with the switch under the throttle. I will check with the dealer and see if it should go ahead and be replaced in the near future.

well...i took it out today and no issues, so hopefully it was just a one time glitch.

if you take out the key pad please post how it is removed. After looking under the dash, Its not clear how it would be removed. I liked my 2003 226, the whole dash could be removed with 2 thumb screws.
