    Wierd Leak

I had always thought that my rudder was leaking in my 2000 SN. However I ran the boat with a fake-a-lake today and I have a small leak that comes from the back of the boat under the muffler. Its a small steady stream. I don't really want to take the gas tank out again as I did when I repacked the steereing. Any ideas as to where the leak is coming from?

Rick there is a plug on the back of the muffler that may not be installed, if not there you can use a screw and a rubber gasket to seal the muffler. Also recheck all of your hose clamps on the exhaust because they do loosen up over time.

You also need to check that the pads are still in place under the muffler,
If the pads have moved they allow the muffler to "rub" on the hull and this eventually can wear through the muffler.

If this has happened you will need to patch up the muffler with a bit of fibreglass and resin.

Make sure those foam pads are in place securely stuck to the muffler .
