For the love of Pete, why wont my tanks come out?

I am trying to remove my rear tanks to get my TH valves in there (I know I should take out the back seat, but my studs are no longer secured to the seat for wahtever reason so I cant take it out which is absolute crap. It seems like most of my interior studs are like this for mu interior trim. Please give me advice on this one too while I am at it ) and to adjust the prop through-hull because I seem to take on an unrealistic amount of water in an outing. I got the bolts out, it is free, but how do you get to the bottom host to menuver the dang thing out. I have been fighting with it for about an hour, I know I am missing something stupid. I want to get thses things out to replace with my bags at some point too so I really need to get them out.

Don't worry about the rear seat. Remove the side panels. There should be 2 brackets on the engine side that are bolted to the tanks with 2 screws in each. The screws go through the brackets and into the floor. Take the screws out. Remove hoses from tank and lift the tank up. once lifted remove the hose from the empty pump on the bottom back of the tank. After that it should come right out.

I cant lift it enough to get to the bottom hose, that is my problem.

I've never tried this in a SAN but provided you are not using the tanks anymore why not just cut them? Sure it might be cool to keep them but in reality you'd prolly never put them back in.

then just disconnect the hose from the fill pump

I still cant really figure out how to maneuver them out. I want to keep them for now because I will be using them until I get new 750s. Cutting them up isnt really an option when I know they can be taken out cleanly.

I just pulled the hard tanks out of my 08 210. I put some 750 sacs in their place.

I had a hard time as well, I had to take off the metal giude piece that holds the engine panells towards the front of the boat. It took me a while and several different angles but I did finally get them out.
I wouldnt want to cut them either in your case. If/when I plan to sell my boat I will prob put the hard tanks back in.

I was unable to get one of mine out in my 99. For the life of me could not figure it out. Hence, the sawzall.

There is no reason whatsoever to keep the tanks intact. It is nice to think that you are going to put them back in if/when you sell, but the likelihood of you actually doing that is slim to none. Why would you? The buyer isn't going to want you to, they are going to want bags. If you are going to buy another boat and it doesn't have bags already, why not just buy two more. You will spend more time re-engineering them back in than it is worth. You are talking about $200 in a $25-60k boat. Lastly, there is virtually no market for used tanks as everyone is putting bags in. Total waste of time.

Break out the sawzall and be done with it.

I just replaced my tanks with sacs in my 211. Wasn't easy but got them out. I live in northwest suburbs MN and can lend a hand if interested.

I appreciate that, but I did end up getting them out. I have ran into a slew of other problems since then though. I did get all the fittings that I need for a quick change sack system with one 750 for surfing. I got them from wakeskishop.com, they guy who did part of the ballast puppy group buy on here. I got a sick deal and I should be getting the stuff tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes.

Sounds good. I'm always interested in helping out with boat work and am regularly available (work from home!). I ride regularly on fish lake in maple grove and have been monitoring the ice conditions. Once I've got a few break in hours under the belt, I'd be happy to exchange some pulls.

burt, I work 5 minutes from Fish Lake. I used to ride there fairly regularly when I lived in MG. Only two issues with that lake are the 12 parking spaces, and the countercloskwise rule. I had to get there at 6am to get a parking spot. The NW end of Rice Lake is looking good this morning. My guess is that will be off by Monday. I live betweeen Monticello and Clearwater.

Slayer, very true about fish. Most of my riding is done there during the week. I normally get to the launch around 4 to beat the traffic and haven't had a problem yet. The weekend is a very different story however we normally head north to the cabin in pequot lakes. Haven't been harrased with the counterclockwise yet, but am annoyed regularly with the pontoons tubing in figure eights!!! Bring your gear to work and I'll give you a pull anytime. I run a '09 211 and a buddy runs a '06 xstar.
