    Boat want stay Cranked Help!

Have an 01 SAN with GT40 engine. Getting ready to crank my boat from winterization my first fuel injected boat I advanced the throttle several times then tried to crank boat it started briefly then shutoff then wouldn't start at all until I used the oewners manual on how to clear flooded engine it started then shutoff now it will crank run for approximately 3-4 seconds and shutoff. What is my next troubleshooting step or how do if fix it so boat will crank?
Found this in owners manual did I trick computer into thinking it is flooded and if I disconncet battery for 5 min. will computer reset?

The throttle control should stay in neutral during engine ignition. If the
throttle is advanced, it is possible for the computer to think that the engine is
flooded and initiate a “clear flood” condition which will shut off fuel to the
engine and not allow it to start.

Disconnecting the battery is a good place to start.

If your GT-40 is running normally, this is how you start it. Turn the key. If it is 20 degrees outside, the boat has sat for four months, and you were talked into taking it out Jan 1 for some crazy New Years Day ski, just turn the key. If it is 110 degrees, at Lake Shasta, and you have sat for 10 minutes, just turn the key. There is no need to move the throttle, when starting it.

If your safety lanyard is off the boat, came disconnected, or got bumped, it will cause the engine to start and run, as long as the key is held in the start position, but the boat will die as soon as the key is released back to the run position.

Was not aware it would even start. I thought the lanyard opened the HP fuel pump circuit and would not allow fuel to get to the system. Wouldn't holding the key in "start" mangle your starter bendix or flywheel?

I am/was in the camp of the safety laynard. Start with the easy fixes and eliminate them first

The Gt-40 engine computer shuts off the fuel pumps below a certain RPM. In order for the engine to start, the computer automatically turns the fuel pumps on whenever the engine is being cranked, even if the safety lanyard is disconnected. But as soon as you release the key, the start override goes away, and the fuel pumps shut off, and the engine stops running.

There is a one way clutch, or the pinion is pushed away from the flywheel when the engine starts. If the starter stayed engaged to the flywheel, and you revved the engine up, the starter would spin up to many thousands of RPM, and probably come apart, destructively.

              All is good!

Went out to boat today and it started right up and ran fine in yard one question will V drive oil pressure warning light go out after I run it for first time of season in water I changed oil during winterization so I was thinking v drive needs to be ran to build pressure? Also thanks for all responses this is my first fuel injected boat I am used to having to pump throttle several times prior to stating my old carburated boats!

You did hook your boat up to a raw water supply before you started it, didn't you?
The v-drive oil pressure light should go off about by about 1200 RPM, in gear. When you are in neutral, the V-drive does not turn, and neither does the oil pump in the V-drive.
When running your boat, you can put it in gear for a very short time, after you squirt some soapy water into the strut bearing.
