    thru hulls

what size are the stock thru hull VENTS for 2000 air nautique factory ballast...

I am planning to rip out the stock tanks, but utilize the existing vent lines and want to confirm their size. the actual outlet seems to be much bigger than where the hose connects if that makes sense...

I believe mine are the same... however, the exit seems like it is a much larger diameter than the connection site if that makes sense.

The hole will be a bit larger. The 3/4" refers to the ID of the hose I believe. The thru hulls will probably cover a 1 1/4" hole.

          intakes

I am planning a 3 bag system with a dedicated pump per bag. Should I use dedicated thru hulls or a shared intake? I already have a 0.75" intake from the factory system. I may add a fourth bow bag after moving my battery later on down the road, but could piggyback it off the locker bag or use the stock thru hull for it...

          Help!

Also, will I have an issue with my rear bags in the trunk draining thru the stock thru hull vents in the rear while underway?

I am setting up a four bag system with two 1 1/4 inch intakes supplying a manifold going to two 1" hoses -> impeller pumps -> bag each (I hope that makes sense). I think that only have one 3/4 inch intake would take forever to fill three bags let alone four. I would prob put in a 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 inch intake to fill the two new bags wwhich you later could use to fill the third.

I am hoping people with experience running both systems will chime in so I can weigh the benefits and downsides of each alternative. I have gone back and forth...

Are you using reversible pumps or aerators?

Likewise. I would go as large as thru-hull as you feel comfortable with for ensure adequate flow if you expand your system. Contact Jason at wakemakers. He was a huge help when designing my system.

I've spoken to him and was planning to do one thru hull, but my buddy who is a mechanic was telling me that one thru hull will cause the bags to fill at different rates and possibly steal water from one another because water follows the path of least resistance. Basically he was saying at the very least the system will run slower and defeat the purpose of having independent pumps and now I'm having second thoughts.

I think the best insight may be drawn from what current boats are coming from the factory with... what are current Nautiques doing in terms of thru hulls? I know then have independent pumps per tank.

A 3/4 thru hull will flow enough water to support 3 ballast puppies without either having a problem of leaching off the other.
