heyy im new to the forum....

but im having an issue with my intake manifold on my ford motor. due to a bad winterization the freeze plugs were not taken out and the intake manifold cracked and is leaking water. so my question is where is a good place to buy a replacement or oem manifold? or if anyone has any advice or insight that would be awesome.

i appreciate the quick responses and the website links. but none of those websites have intake manifolds. i found exhaust manifolds but no intake manifolds.

is there a difference between a 351 clevland car intake manifold from a 351 boat motor?

Yes, there is. You need a 351 Windsor manifold. Is it fuel injected or carbureted?

I would be looking for the other cracks in the block, you can get the intake anyware, edlebrock's are cheap used on ebay and craig's list.

But I would buy a short block and new intake as welll your going to need both.

The block doesn't have freeze plugs to start with and the casting plugs are not removed to winterize the boat to start with, so who ever did it didn't winterize the boat correctly with anti-freeze, so on top of the cracked intake your going to have a cracked block as well.

The 351W block does have press in freeze plugs.

Those are the casting plugs that Chris is talking about. Freeze plugs is a misnomer. These are NOT removed for winterizing. We are really just mincing words here, but we may as well set it straight with the correct information. What should be removed are the blocks drains. Always, ALWAYS drain when winterizing. Then go back and add antifreeze.

Core plugs, sometimes wrongly called freeze plugs or frost plugs, are plugs that fill the core holes found on internal combustion engines. The sand casting cores are used to form the internal cavities in the engine block or cylinder head(s), usually forming the coolant passages. The traditional plug is a thin, domed, disc of ferrous metal which is pressed into a machined hole in the casting. Alternatively a non-ferrous metal such as brass offers improved corrosion prevention. In some high-performance engines the core plugs are large diameter pipe plugs.[1]

Core plugs can often be a source of troublesome leaks as a result of internal cooling system corrosion. Ease of replacement depends on accessibility. In many cases the plug area will be difficult to reach and using a mallet to perform maintenance or replacement will be nearly impossible without special facilities. Expanding rubber plugs are available as replacements when access is a problem.


THE PROBLEM IS THE BLOCK IS GOING TO BE CRACKED AS WELL NOT JUST THE INTAKE. iF THE BLOCK WASN'T CRACKED THE CORE PLUGS WOULDN'T HAVE POP OUT.
